Refresh your zombie posts.

Old posts that ranked once and now sit at zero traffic are zombies. They drag your site average down. This recipe lists them, picks the ones worth saving, and regenerates them in your current voice with current research.

Before you start

  • Published posts on your domain
  • Brand description filled in

How to run it

  1. List the zombies

Ask your assistant to list posts that drove fewer than 50 clicks in the last 90 days. Sort by date so you see the oldest ones first.

  2. Pick the ten worth saving

Skim the list. Pick ten posts whose topic is still relevant. Skip anything dated, off-brand, or never on-strategy.

  3. Regenerate in your voice

Ask your assistant to refresh those ten using your current brand description. The posts go back into your backlog as drafts so you can review before publishing.

  4. Re-publish with the same URL

Publish the refreshed posts at the original URL so you keep all the existing backlinks and search history. Submit the URLs to Search Console for a re-crawl.
